Repairing the throttle body heater on a 2003 DII
December 2009
If your DII Throttle Body Heater plate is looking like this, it is time to replace it.
You may have noticed your coolant level dropping but no coolant on the ground. Depending on the severity, the coolant dries up before it makes it far enough.
1. Remove throttle body air inlet arm. Take this opportunity to clean the butterfly valve.
2. Remove the PCV hose from the valve cover to throttle body.
3. Remove three screws securing heater plate to throttle body.
4. Remove the vacuum lines connected to the SAI Solenoid and SAI valve
5. Remove heater plate

Dexcool isn't COOL
6. Clean area of old coolant
7. Clean bottom of throttle body
8. Attach new heater plate to coolant hoses
9. Although not per RAVE, I used some Right Stuff Brand Grey RTV for added sealing. Only apply to the side the will mate with the heater plate.
10. Install new heater plate to throttle body securing it with new screws provided with the new part.
