Replacing SAI Pump Filter on my 2003 DII
July 2009
Located to the left (pas side) of the engine and mounted to the fire wall, you will find the SAI pump.
It is secured on by three 10mm nuts to three rubber mounts on a "C" shape bracket.
A small cylindrical vacuum reservoir is attached on a smaller bracket on top and forward of the pump by a 4th 10mm nut which is secured to one of the three SAI PUMP mounts closest to coolant reservoir
Disconnect the hose attached at the bottom of the pump and the electrical connector.
To make removal of the pump easier once everything is disconnected, remove the small canister to the left of the pump which is secured by another 10 mm bolt.
REMOVED
Take a small screw driver and pry the tabs to remove the filter cover.
Remove the old filter, and blow air through the impeller to remove old pieces of filter. Mine was falling apart real bad.
I bought this filter which was the only type available to me. $1.75
It folds out to one sheet 1/4 x 15 x 24
This next part can be done many ways but this is how i did it. I cut several strips about 1 to 1 1/4 inch strips
Then arrange as needed to mimic the thickness of the old filter.
