DI Wiper Arms on DII

If you have a Discovery II then you know what options you have for replacing your wiper blades. For me, not having a dealer and not wanting to wait to get OEM style shipped in left me with a nice option... to use Discovery I wiper arms. DI arms are universal and accept basically all types of wiper blades in case you need to buy some at the local gas station or at the local auto parts store. Only thing you'll ever need to worry about is that the store carries your blade length!

You can buy DI wiper arms from almost anywhere you would find any NEW or USED Rover parts. I got mine from a forum member parting out a DI. RoversNorth.com has a conversion kit you can buy brand new. But they do not include the rear wiper arm.

Front Wiper Arms

Remove the wiper arm spindle cap with a flat head screw driver. That will expose a 13mm or 14mm nut. Remove the nut and pull off the DII wiper arm. Install the DI wiper arm and YOUR choice of blade and you are done!

I was lucky to get the bolt coverings for the DI wiper arms but they don't fit as snug as on a DI do to the thickness of the DII bolt you must reuse.

The Rear Wiper Arm

If you converted the front wipers then why not the rear? Well I will tell you there is a bit more involved than the front.
1. Remove the spare wheel to gain access to the rear wiper arm.
2. Remove blade from wiper arm.
3. Remove wiper arm with tube still connected. (I did this to have better access to the inside of the arm to aid in unclipping the washer jet)
4. GENTLY unclip and remove the washer jet out from wiper arm.

5. Disconnect the tube from washer jet and pull the tube out of the wiper arm and spring. Reconnect the washer jet and tube.
6. Install DI wiper arm and blade.
7. Run tube along side the DI wiper arm and position washer jet tip on top of blade facing rear window. Zip tie the tube. One zip tie on the washer jet's "raised section" will hold it from turning.

That's a nice reflection huh?
In the end I am very pleased with the setup and look. (Even the rear wiper arm)

I matched the length of the DII blades and bought "Rainx" brand blades front and a generic brand for the rear.

I get the same glass coverage as before and the function and operation is smooth...plus I can buy whatever blades I want.
